EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK

Performance Appraisal

Periodically the University may conduct performance appraisal for Employees. Employees generally receive written performance appraisals within three to six months after completion of the Introductory Period and once a year thereafter. In general, the performance appraisals will be conducted between September and October and reviewed and finalized by December. The period of evaluation will be from July 1 of the prior year to June 30 of the current year.

During performance appraisals, Employees are encouraged to discuss any performance issues raised, as well as any additional issues and opportunities for advancement or career development within the University. It is required that goals for the upcoming year must be written and agreed upon between the Supervisor and Employee. These goals will be reviewed semi-annually to determine progress of meeting these goals or the need for modification. The annual appraisal will include review of achievements of these goals.

Faculty members are also evaluated on their performance. Details of the Faculty performance appraisals can be found in the Faculty Handbook.

Faculty performance appraisals are conducted at the end of each quarter when student survey outcomes are discussed with the faculty, evaluation of meeting tripartite requirements threshold, and goals are agreed upon between the Dean and Faculty member. At the end of the Fall quarter, the Dean complies all performance appraisals for the year for each faculty, and conducts the annual performance appraisal (December) including the tripartite outcomes of Teaching, Scholarly Activities/Research/Publications, Service, and Practice.

After receiving a performance appraisal, Employees will be required to sign the evaluation outcomes acknowledging that they have received the evaluation and are aware of its contents. A copy of the finalized performance appraisal will then be placed in the Employee’s personnel file.
