Employees who wish to observe a religious holiday not designated by the University may request time off to do so by obtaining written approval from their Supervisor at least two weeks prior to the requested time off. If approved, employees may use accrued vacation time or take the time off without pay.
If a University-designated holiday falls on a Saturday, the University will generally observe the holiday on the Friday before the holiday. If a University-designated holiday falls on a Sunday, the University will generally observe the holiday on the Monday after the holiday.
Holiday Pay does not count as “hours worked” for purposes of calculating a Non-Exempt Employee’s entitlement to overtime during the week in which the holiday occurs.
The University reserves the right to add or delete holidays from the above list as it deems appropriate.
Non-Exempt Employees required to work on any University-designated holiday will be paid at the regular rate of pay plus Holiday Pay. Employees on leave are not eligible for Holiday Pay.
