Grievances
Employees encountering work-related problems or having questions concerning their job are encouraged to discuss questions or problems with the University. The University cannot address any questions, concerns, or problems unless these are brought to its attention.
Employees with questions or concerns should speak with their immediate Supervisor as soon as possible. An Employee’s immediate Supervisor is the person generally responsible for what goes on in an Employee’s immediate work area and may be in the best position to assist.
If an Employee prefers not to speak with their immediate Supervisor or if an Employee feels the immediate Supervisor cannot or has not satisfactorily resolved the problem, Employees are asked to speak with Human Resources. Human Resources is available to assist and work on solving problems or answering questions at any time.
Finally, if an Employee still feels the need to speak to other members of senior executive leadership, the University encourages Employees to speak with Human Resources to schedule this meeting.
The University takes all concerns and problems brought to its attention seriously. The University will work to address Employee concerns or resolve problems promptly under the circumstances. Employees are encouraged to utilize this procedure without fear of reprisal.
Please note that, where permitted by law, the University utilizes a system of binding arbitration for disputes with Employees that cannot be resolved by other means, and that would otherwise be subject to resolution in court.
